About me

Hi, I’m Daan, a full-time working dad with a love for creating things. Between my job, family life, and being a husband and father of two, my time for creativity is limited. But that’s exactly why this site exists.

I started this project to challenge myself: to keep learning, building, and experimenting with small creative projects, ideally weekly, and hopefully one bigger project every month. But I also want to be realistic. Life gets busy, and I can’t promise a perfect schedule. What I can promise is that I’ll keep trying.

This site keeps me focused, motivated, and on the right path, even when life gets busy.

I share my progress openly, including the struggles, the resets, and the moments where I need to start again. If you’re someone who wants to create but also needs to balance work, family, and everything else, then you’re in good company here.

Balancing Life, Work, and Creativity

Learning 3D while juggling a full-time job and family responsibilities is challenging. Updates may not always be weekly, and projects may take longer than planned, but consistency over time is the goal, not perfection.

Setting personal goals, like one project per month, helps me stay motivated. This site keeps me focused, motivated, and on the right path, even when life gets busy.

The Tools I Use (And Why They May Change Over Time)

I prefer working with tools that respect creators — mostly open-source or freely accessible software. But I don’t want to commit myself to a fixed list. Creative tools evolve fast, and so does my workflow.

The real spark for restarting this journey was Blender 5.0. With so many improvements and changes, it felt like the perfect moment for a fresh beginning. From there, I explore whatever tools help me learn, experiment, or bring an idea to life.

Sometimes that’s Blender for 3D, sometimes open-source tools for drawing or editing, and sometimes something completely different. As I grow, the tools will grow with me, and this site will simply reflect whatever I’m using at the moment.

What matters most isn’t the software, but the freedom to create and understand the full process.

Follow the Journey

If you’re learning 3D, curious about open-source tools, or trying to balance creativity with a busy life, I hope this site becomes a helpful and honest place for you.

Follow along as I learn, experiment, and create — one project at a time!
